Krikor Geulemerian was honored during our July 28th meeting for his 50 years of service. He has exemplified the definition of being a Rotarian.

A professional person united worldwide providing humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations, and helping build goodwill and peace in the world.

His profession started in 1960 when Krikor started his career in the airline industry. His expertise and professionalism were quickly recognized and very shortly he was hired by KLM Airlines. This would be the last company he would ever work for up until retirement.

His career has had Krikor come face to face with presidents, royalty, ambassadors and ministers. He was decorated by the President of Columbia and also by the Queen of the Netherlands for his service.

Over the years with increasing responsibilities also meant his family was relocated several times to countries throughout the world including:

Jerusalem
Panama
Columbia
Italy
Mexico
Spain
Argentina
Chile
USA

While visiting his sister-in-law living in Washington State in the 80's, Krikor and his family decided of all the places they have seen and lived, Mill Creek is were there wanted to live after retirement.

But just before retiring, KLM and Northwest Airlines merged and Krikor was asked once more to take on some more responsibility. His last position before retirement was Vice President of North America. Wanting to live in Mill Creek, he commutated to New York weekly.

Krikor's service to others started in 1960 when he became a charter member of the Rotary Club of Jerusalem. His passion and dedication to Rotary never faltered as his career grew.

Krikor is a very humble and quiet man - but ask him about Rotary and his eyes shine with enjoyment and enthusiasm. He explains to you how proud he is that this small town of Mill Creek and this small club of Rotarians do so much to help others. Per-capita, the Mill Creek Rotary does more than any club he has ever belonged to. He is particularly passionate about the work being done to provide wheelchairs to impoverished disabled people in Third World countries. "This city and this club, should be proud of what we do and what we have accomplished", Krikor states.

Krikor Geulemerian is currently the Chair of the International Committee for the Rotary Club of Mill Creek. He and his wife, Sona, have two adult children. Their son, Shahan, lives in Chile and daughter, Katia, lives here in Mill Creek.

When you see Krikor, ask him about Rotary and what it means. You will see the love he has in helping others and the love for this community. Krikor, the Rotary Club and community of greater Mill Creek thank you for you 50 years of Service Above Self.
