Books for the World

Rotarians at Work Day Project

Archbishop Murphy High School Interact and some Jackson High School students have been collecting boxes and boxes of books these past several weeks.

On April 2, 118 people (if all signed in) from 25 clubs, 3 Interact clubs, HSBC Bank and a couple of community members joyfully sorted and packed literally thousands and thousands of books.

The Rotary Club of Mill Creek was represented with a couple of AMHS Interact Club along with myself.

District 5030 assembled 30 1/3 pallets of books ready to ship to Texas and on to Africa.  That is 728 boxes filled to the top with books!  There are easily more than 20,000 books in those boxes. They will go to schools, libraries, old age homes, doctor’s offices, community centers across southern Africa.  We certainly exceeded our goal of 20 pallets.  Thank you for making it happen.  You were truly Building Communities and Bridging Continents.

The Rotary Club of Mill Creek Vocantional service donated funds to pay for a pallet, which is a couple thousand pounds of books.

Rotary once again, accomplished something remarkable.
