Marielle Harrington from Get Movin' was Rotary's guest speaker on October 24th.

Get Movin’ is a program aimed at motivating families to get movin’ and improve their health by adopting a more active, healthy lifestyle through physical and recreational activities.

Get Movin’ emphasizes daily physical activity in the form of play and recreation. Taking a walk after dinner, dancing around while washing the car, and playing outside are great ways to be physically active and spend time together as a family.

It’s easy to achieve the Get Movin’ goal of being physically active for at least 60 minutes per day, five days per week all summer long with the Get Movin’ Playbook. The Playbook contains tools for good fitness and nutrition, a calendar to track progress, loads of free reward coupons for fun activities such as swimming and ice skating and four free bus passes.

Get Movin’ is a multi-partner coalition of public, private and non-profit agencies in Snohomish County collaborating to develop the annual Get Movin’ program. Funding for Get Movin’ is provided by grants, sponsors and coalition partners with significant in-kind contributions made by local businesses and health advocates.
