Student of the Month
At this Wednesday's meeting, we recognized three incredible students. Read on and I am sure you will agree!
Hailey Stapp
The theme for our Student of the Month for November is "Overcoming Adversity." Our Student of the Month from Henry M. Jackson High School is Hailey Stapp. Hailey is a senior who has truly demonstrated the characteristic of resiliency. Two years ago during her sophomore year, her mother died from health complications. Hailey found herself initially spiraling into loneliness and depression, but through the support and encouragement of two teachers, she was able to not only catch back up in school, but excel in even more challenging classes. She used the energy of her feelings as fuel to change her life in a productive way. She started working two jobs and volunteering at SeaFair where she received an award for her above-and-beyond innovative efforts that improved guest experiences. Hailey's ability to overcome adversity has been an inspiration to those who have had the privilege to know her. Hailey plans to attend Western Washington University in the fall to study biology or environmental science. Congratulations Hailey!

Lillian Budinick
From Archbishop Murphy High School, Lillian "Lilli" Budinick, is our November Student of the Month for "Overcoming Adversity." A year ago, the Seattle Times wrote an article titled “Despite Hardships, Lilli Budinick is the heart of the Archbishop Volleyball program.” Lilli was born without a heartbeat. After 11 minutes of CPR, doctors were unsuccessful in reviving her. With a sprinkle of holy water and many many prayers, the miracle happened - Lilli's heartbeat was found. Doctor’s said that she may never walk, talk, see or hear. Once again she proved them wrong. Through years of therapy and perseverance, today Lilli is a vibrant young woman who is full of life, laughter and hope. She embraces every day: playing volleyball for three years on the high school girls team, performing her community service hours with a loving, giving heart; and has truly become that miracle who always faces her daily challenges with a smile. Lilli intends to attend a four year college and pursue a degree in business.
Footnote: Lilli was asked by one of our members what advice she would have for anyone facing difficult challenges. Lilli's words were simple, but impactful..."don't give up"! Thanks and congratulations for being our Archbishop Murphy November Student of the Month!
